Due to its unsightly nature, one would have to frame the piece in order to cover this area and make wall-ready for display. However, when gallery-wrapped, the canvas itself is wrapped fully around the stretcher bars with the securing staples on the inside of the bars (not visible). Thus the art would be wall-ready for display and able to hang without the need of a traditional frame. Gallery-wrapped canvases can always be framed at a later date and time, but the same could not be said for a framed or traditionally stretched canvas as you could not change to the gallery-wrap at a later date and time.
