Master artist Jim Shore grew up in rural South Carolina, the son of artistic parents who instilled a love of American folk art. His grandmother was a master quilter who taught him the patience and skill to bring intricate designs to life. Jim worked for decades developing his craft, manufacturing his own designs and traveling the country to sell his work. Jim has received multiple awards from prestigious trade organizations including ICON HONORS Life Accomplishment Award in 2012. Jims unmistakable style combines a diverse color palette with timeless design drawn from images of American and European folk-art forms, including quilting, rosemaling and tole painting. His fresh new interpretation of traditional motifs has international appeal and works with a variety of themes and formats. But the Evil Queen figurine shows her true colors in more ways than one, for she is truly two-faced. Circle around behind her and you see her true nature; an ugly, old witch on one side and a beautiful, but cold and scheming queen on the other. The Evil Queen side of the piece is embellished with an image of Snow White embracing the friendly animals of the forest on a bed of flowers. The ugly, old witch side of the piece is perhaps even more impressive with its detailed depiction of her standing before a bubbling cauldron of dark magic, accompanied by her raven, poison apple in hand, with the floor littered with the bones of her enemies. This piece was displayed away from direct sunlight in a non-smoking, pet-free home and is in such great shape that I could list it as brand-new, but Im being honest when I say that it was actually displayed carefully for a few months. The piece comes in its original box with all original packing materials and supplemental items, such as the display tags and info card. Even the box is in excellent condition. This piece debuted in 2005 and has long since been retired, so there are a limited number of them in circulation among collectors.
